How important is piano in your beats?

Well do you even use a piano or do you just sample?

I personally stay away from sampling for:

1. Copyright Issues
2. I love creating beautiful beats from scratch

Now that does not mean sampling is bad!  Just how I go about making my beats.  I do recommend you practice sampling to learn “all areas of beat making” so that you can take and use different techniques in different areas at different times etc.

So if you are like me, and always use a piano in your productions, learning the piano is very important.

Learning different scales, learning how to improvise, meaning to be able to just sit down and play the piano without having to read sheet music etc.

So here in this video I break down the scale of C Major.  Remember, no black notes!  Improvisation will come with time, but just keep following the tips in the video, practice your inversions and you will eventually be able to start improvising on your keys!
