So first off,

I’d like to mention the image and title:

I really like the image, it has a super unique feel to it and really suites the name of the sound kit, “Gems from the Crates“.

It just makes you wonder what’s inside that Drum Machine!

So what about the kit?

Overall, Alkota’s “Gems from the Crates” is a solid kit, especially for the price!

I’m a big fan of these claps!  If you check out the video at 4:44, just listen how powerful that first clap is and how it carries the beat by itself!

Also, I was super impressed when I layered those 3 kicks together at how powerful the beat became.  The beat turned from okay.. to a solid production!

As for the kicks themselves, I was only impressed with a handful when it came to the individual hits.  I found many a bit weak without layering, but with a bit of layering and some mixing, these kicks are an awesome platform to work off of!

The Claps!

In this kit, Alkota’s Claps = Gems.

I think the claps in this kit are awesome.  They have a super wide sound to them and have that real nice layer effect!

The claps alone are something to keep in mind about this kit.

What about the Snares!?

Alkota has supplied you with tons of snares to choose from, which are all unique sounds.

As for the snares, there’s a couple that stood out to me, and had a real aggressive lower end hit to make your listener feel the snare rather than just listen to it.

I did find many of them weren’t as crisp and have that hard “crack” to them as I like! (Maybe a bit muffled fits what I’m trying to get across?).

But overall, tons of snares to choose from, and a real aggressive sound to most of them!

Alkota’s Gems from the Crates is an all-round solid kit.  The percussion is unique, the claps are AWESOME, these kicks bring their game to the table, and the snares are on par with most kits I’ve used!

This price is unheard of!  Such a good deal for the amount of sounds and quality behind them.
